So a friend brought it to my attention the other day that I have not blogged on here in 8 months. I had all the great intentions in the world to do so but I don't know what happened. I have blogged on my wrestling blog but not on this one since January when I created it. Shameful! Well, I'm back. Hopefully I'll do a better job with it. I think I will change it to a traditional blog moreso and just talk about randomness. That way I'll be able to blog more often. Let's see what is on my mind today.
Random-I wish I had wireless internet so that I could be on my laptop and in the room with the TV at the same time. I'd probably write on the blog more too.
I miss my friends. I miss being in a city with my friends. It would be cool this evening to be able to call up Neisha or Joy or Erika or somebody and go out to dinner. Instead I am at home thinking about what I should cook for dinner and checking out the DVR.
I'm not looking forward to cleaning out the garage. Storing stuff in the garage isn't smart. It gets too dusty and dirty. EWW!!
So nothing is really on my mind today.

What About Your Friends?
I was reading the Bible (Romans 12: 9-21).
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
I have found it to be true over the years that there are some topics, some areas of concern that serve as a test. Finances, job, etc. to see how we will behave and if we will stay true to how we are supposed to behave according to the Bible.
But there is one topic that I have found that can be a test where you wouldn't expect it. Friends. Like the old Whodini song says, "how many of us have them?". I would venture to say that we have fewer than we think we do. We say oh those are my best friends with an s. My friend at school, at work, at church. Then there are the 5, 264 Facebook friends we have half of which we couldn't explain how we even know them (if we know them). But that's not who I'm talking about today.
Your "friends" can be your worse enemies. We have to be careful who we surround ourselves with. Trying to live right means that you need to try to surround yourself with those who try to do right and who will help you in your journey. Be aware of those friends who encourage and/or passify your negative behavior.
Then there are the fall outs. If someone was truly your friend and you fall out there should be a certain level of underlying respect where you can just go your seperate ways without there being but so much drama. But if one party doesn't do that, the drama can suck you in. We have to be careful of that.

Are you living or are you existing?
Are you living or are you existing?
I was watching a movie (well fast forwarding through it) and a part of it says "I have spent most of my life giving my life away. I think I'm going to keep the rest of it for me". I thought that was awesome and something I really need to think about for myself.
Death is a tragic thing if you haven't lived.

Real Housewives
"The Real Housewives of" series has been on for several years now. Many people think that it has set women back several years. I don't know if it has anymore than anything else has. I mean after all there is always the Jersey Shore, lol. But in all seriousness, both women and men both engage in serial foolishness and shenanigans from time to time. These shows just seem to magnify the situation. It is entertainment. I'm sure we all know some people who we could put together and make a "Real Housewives of X Sorority" or "Real Housewives of X Job Place". I think it is less harmful if watched by the adult audience that it is intended to be viewed by and not children.

Oprah
Over the last couple of weeks, several of my Facebook friends have mentioned that they do not care for Oprah. Some say that she is fake, others have other reasons for not liking her. Some have made comments such as “I guess you have to be on the Forbes list in order for Ms. Winfrey to like you” and “I can't stand who she portrays to be when hosting her show.” However, I am proud that she has created her OWN network.” Although they say they do not like her, they have recognized her success and some have said they are proud of her accomplishments. I like Oprah, I’m not a die-hard fan like some out there but I like her. I don’t DVR her show but if I happen to catch it, I watch it and enjoy it. I did watch it more regularly in the past. I also respect what she has accomplished as well as all of her charitable endeavors and admire her for that. One person said that she had a friend who appeared on the show and that who we see on TV isn’t the real person. Other people brought up the point that she is at work when hosting her show and just as we tend to mask our behavior at our jobs, she has the right to do the same thing. I thought that point was right on target. I feel that people are harder on celebrities than other people. Human nature dictates that we critique them harder but is that really fair? Hmmm…….
Now that her long running talk show has come to an end, Oprah Winfrey debuted her OWN network this weekend. Winfrey had hip hop star Jay-Z featured. Jay-Z was the focus of the show, called Master Class, which focuses on successful individuals and how they use their life lessons to teach others.
I have not seen the episode yet but from what I have read, Oprah says that Jay-Z’s episode exemplifies the ability for people to come from a negative environment yet still be able to make a positive impact on the world. Some people on Facebook were debating Oprah’s choice of Jay-Z. What do you think?
That’s something to talk about.........

Something to Talk About
I decided to start a blog for the new year. I had been thinking about starting one for a while and honestly I think I have started one before but have no clue what happened to it. But alas here is a fresh start! I named this something to talk about because I figured that I would post topics here that I thought were interesting (if even for the brief moment I was thinking about them). So be on the lookout for topics and be sure to reply and let me (and the internet world) know your thoughts! Let's have something to talk about!
